Of this fine home of Gothic design, two storeys, 22 rooms and a 75 foot turret, Bagot wrote: ‘… probably the most dignified and stylistically satisfactory house of its type in Australia. Before the fire which destroyed the roof and the interior and the subsequent alterations, the staircase hall with its marble colonnade was monumental’ (Bagot 1958). McMinn’s design work was probably carried out in association with E.J. Woods.
