This large bluestone multi-gabled stand was completed in early 1913 in time for the Adelaide Cup Carnival. The members' stand which stood immediately to the west of this grandstand, was designed by Soward in 1882 and extended to his design in 1926. The members' stand was destroyed by fire on 29 July 1979 and replaced by the current Main Grandstand.
