Built for the first Anglican Bishop of Adelaide, Augustus Short, using Tudor Gothic features. It is believed the plans came from England and that Stuckey was at least the supervisory architect.
Foundation stone was laid 9/01/1851. Stuckey died 31 May 1851. Edmund Wright possibly supervised the final stages of construction.
Part of the building was consecrated at Easter, 1852. Rooms were added at the west end following a subscription in 1854. A dining room and bedrooms were subsequently added.
The Chapel and entrance porch (1912) were designed by G.K.Soward. (Stark 1984) |
